Hazelnuts are nothing less than astonishing in terms of their nutritional value. 100g of hazelnuts averagely contains around a quarter of the recommended daily amount of protein and dietary fibre while containing high amounts of mono-saturated fatty acids, such as oleic and linoleic acid, which simultaneously help lower bad cholesterol (LDL) and raise good cholesterol (HDL). Apart from these excellent preventers of cardiovascular diseases, they also contain a series of vitamins which are essential to our body, such as 15mg of vitamin E (which is exactly the recommended daily amount), nearly a third of the recommended daily amount of folate, a vital vitamin B complex, high amounts of other vitamin B complexes and the vitamins A, C and K. As if that were not enough to ensure this powerful little nut’s place among the most effective health agents, the hazelnut also parades high levels of important minerals like manganese, copper and phosphorus – to name but a few.
